I Practice Thai Massage. What is Thai Massage?
Thai Massage has parallels between Ayurvedic Massage, Traditional Chinese Medicine and has roots in Hinduism and Buddhism. While related, Thai Massage is its own school, with deep tradition and unique approach to the body. It focuses on "wind gates" which can be thought of as acupressure points. Thai Massage’s primary concern is in promoting movement, or opening these wind gates to fresh energy.
My Approach is distinctly western with a parallel emphasis on mobility. I do this through deep-tissue, myofascial-release utilizing Thai Massage techniques on a mat. This provides superior leverage and mobility. You can see examples of Thai massage on YouTube, or in this Image Gallery from my studio in Portland.
Who am I? See About Page.
My approach to bodywork. I’ve been practicing since 2011 and while my early life was steeped in Eastern philosophy I am also a product of the West’s hard sciences. After years of deep tissue massage I was beginning to experience a repetitive stress injury in my shoulders and wrists, I needed a way to continue the deep work I found so effective. This lead me to Thai massage which diversifies a therapists tool-set and utilizes positional release like no other modality allowing me to continue my practice.
